Ciel

Ciel

A little cloud that keeps an eye on your AI coding agents.

Windows 10 and 11 · also for Linux: .deb · .rpm · AppImage

The AppImage runs anywhere · or the .deb (Debian, Ubuntu) · .rpm (Fedora) · Windows

For Windows 10 and 11, and Linux: .deb · .rpm

The sky is the limit.

Watches your agents

Every session, live.

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI and more. Ciel shows what each one reads, edits and runs, step by step, with the diff of every file, and does a happy little jump when it's done.

Asks before anything runs

Nothing runs without your OK.

When an agent wants to run a command or change a file, the island slides down with Deny and Allow. Ciel never says yes on his own, and if he isn't running, your agent simply asks in its terminal as usual.

Dictation and Notetaker

Hold Right Ctrl and talk.

Speak anywhere, let go, and your words are typed where you were. The Notetaker records a call and hands you the transcript, person by person, with a summary and the to-dos. The speech is recognised offline, on your own CPU.

« OK Ciel »

Ask out loud. Nothing leaves your computer.

Ask for your pills, your music, what you spent this month, or to open an app. Ciel answers with Claude and your own key, or with a model on your own machine through Ollama, such as qwen3.5:9b. Then nothing leaves your computer.

Finance pill

Where the money went, at a glance.

This month against your budget, the top categories and the latest entries. Add an expense in a few clicks, or just tell Ciel “I spent 12 euros on lunch”. It all stays in two plain files, in a folder you choose.

Wallpapers and lock screen

Skies for your desktop, lit by the real sun.

Clear, cloudy, golden, sunset, night, space and storm, drawn by Ciel and lit by the sun where you are, with the weather following his mood. Live on the desktop, still on the lock screen. The skies on this page are the very same.

A live wallpaper: a night sky over a sea of clouds, with Ciel asleep in the middle

Late at night, when he falls asleep, he drifts off into space.

Try the island.

The live demo is on its way.
Meanwhile, Ciel is one download away.

This is the real island, running in your browser in demo mode. Pick a moment, answer it, hover the island: the sky follows his mood as his wallpaper does on your desktop. No agent is connected and nothing is sent anywhere.

Open source

Free, open, and yours to change.

Read the code, fork it, make it yours. Ciel is built in the open with Tauri, Rust and TypeScript, and every bit of him (the cloud, the icon, the sounds, the skies) is drawn or synthesised in code.

Forked from Coucou, with thanks

Ciel started as a fork of Coucou by Louis Raillé and builds on its Windows and Linux app. Ciel's name, character, icon and sounds are its own, and Ciel is not made or endorsed by Coucou's author.

Install

Three steps, then he's on duty.

  1. Download

Get the installer, Ciel-Windows-setup.exe, from the latest release. Windows 10 and 11.

Download the installer Every download, and what's new
  2. Run it anyway

The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may stop it. Click More info, then Run anyway.

  3. Connect your agents

Ciel appears at the top of your screen. Open Settings → Claude Code → Install hooks… (and the page of each other agent you use): you see the exact change and a dated backup is kept before anything is written.

  1. Download

The AppImage runs on any distribution. Prefer a package? The .deb for Debian and Ubuntu 22.04+, the .rpm for Fedora.

    Download the AppImage

.deb · .rpm · every download

  2. Install it

One line, for the one you took. X11 and Wayland both work.

    sudo apt install ./Ciel-Linux-amd64.deb
    sudo dnf install ./Ciel-Linux-x86_64.rpm
    chmod +x Ciel-Linux-x86_64.AppImage

Privacy

What happens on your computer stays there.

  • No telemetry, no account

Ciel only talks to the services you set up yourself. Its log stays on your machine.

  • Keys in your keychain

API keys live in Windows Credential Manager or the Linux Secret Service, never in a file.

  • Your voice stays home

Dictation and the Notetaker transcribe on your CPU. Only text goes to the AI you choose.

  • Local models

Point « OK Ciel », the chat and the call summaries at Ollama or LM Studio, and nothing leaves your computer.

Give Ciel a star.

If he makes life with your agents a little lighter, a star on GitHub helps other people find him. It's also the nicest way to say thank you, and it keeps the skies coming.
